In the wake of rising cases of suicide in Kota (Rajasthan) with two incidents within three days, Kota District Collector Dr Ravinder Goswami on Tuesday wrote separate letters to NEET and JEE aspirants and their parents and warned of their own failure. Gave example of. In pre-medical test many years ago.

Goswami, himself an MBBS doctor before becoming an IAS officer, said failure is an opportunity to improve and convert it into success. He urged the parents to give their children a chance to correct their mistakes and not to link their children's happiness with the marks obtained in the examination.

Quoting a motivational couplet by Urdu poet Sahir Ludhianvi, Goswami began his address to the students with "dear children" and said failures provide an opportunity to overcome the mistakes made in life and convert failure into success. The Collector said that examination is only a phase of life, not the final goal and it cannot determine the direction of one's life.

“I am an example of this. I have also failed in PMT,” the collector informed the students, adding, “We can only work hard and it is up to God to provide you with the fruits. Therefore, If He makes us successful, that's fine, but if He makes us fail, I mean He is making another path for us.,

Goswami wrote, "You are the great children of great India and just one examination cannot be considered as the final test to achieve your goal."

He concluded his letter to the students by saying that if one walks, one falls, but it is worthwhile only when one gets up after falling and moves towards achieving the goal.

Similarly, in a separate letter to parents, the DM appreciated their commitment in providing all facilities to their children. H acknowledged that his happiness lay in his children's happiness, but he noted that problems arose when children's happiness was tied to test scores.

"Does one become successful just by passing exams?" The DM asked the parents and said, “No.,

He told the parents that their children may take interest in some other field.

The DM urged parents to give their children a chance to improve themselves, as his own parents had done to him when he returned home from Kota, where he had stayed for PMT preparation but Had failed once.

The Collector appealed to the parents to talk to their children regularly, listen to them and assure them that they are most important and most precious to them.
