Mumbai, Rohit Saraf always wanted to do a film that would give him a chance to show off his dance moves and he is happy to have got the opportunity in 'Ishq Vishq Rebound'.

The young adult drama, which is a sequel to 2003's "Ishq Vishq" starring Shahid Kapoor, Amrita Rao and Shehnaz Treasury, revolves around four friends and their complicated love lives.

Saraf, who became known as an actor with "The Sky is Pink," "Ludo" and the Netflix series "Mismatched," said the film helped him fulfill his dream of dancing on screen.

"I feel like no matter how serious you are as an actor, I think you always want to have an opportunity in life where you can go into slow motion and dance... This was the first time I was able to do that." in a movie... it moved me a lot.

"It was on my bucket list. And what's even more exciting is that it really helps you connect with the audience. There were so many people who came up to us and said, 'When we saw the song, I felt that they were singing to us.' For me, that's something very important," the actor said in an interview.

Marathi filmmaker Nipun Avinash Dharmadhikari has directed the film, which also stars Pashmina Roshan, Jibraan Khan and Naila Grewal.

"Ishq Vishk Rebound" is Saraf's first time playing the lead role, but the actor said he has never approached a film thinking that it completely belongs to him.

"I don't look at a movie and say this is completely my movie. I don't think I have that approach because in order to say it's my movie, I would have to do everything on my own. I have to direct it, produce it, act in all the parts and then call it my movie.

"It's the hard work of a lot of people. All four characters in the movie are important. You remove one character from the movie and I don't think the movie is complete... It's everyone's movie, more than the actors'."

The actor believes that there is a great appetite among the public for romantic comedy films, as evidenced by the success of recent films in the genre.

"We were missing it, but I think starting with 'Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar'... I think it's coming back, and it's very exciting because there's definitely an appetite for it," Saraf said.

Jibraan Khan, best known for his work as a child artist in “Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham”, plays the other male lead in “Ishq Vishk Rebound”.

The actor said that he has been a fan of the genre, especially because of the light-hearted nature of romantic comedies.

"We need romantic comedies, we need life and we need love in our country right now. I hope what we have done resonates with Indian lovers again... I was lucky enough to do it right now. I love watching beautiful songs and dances. I love it to see the heartbreak and we have been very fortunate to have a movie like this," said the actor.

Khan recalled that he was a child when he saw Shahid's film in the cinema.

"I remember watching it at the Chandan theater with my sister and her friends. It was a very good feeling because I definitely remember walking out of the theater singing 'Ishq Vishk' and today I am doing it. Like every day." "I wake up, listen to it, and watch people perform our song," he said.

What has made the experience even more memorable is the green signal that the team received from Shahid and his "Ishq Vishk" co-star Amrita Rao.

“He has given us his support. He's posted a couple of (Instagram) stories to us and I think that says a lot about him because he's given us the green signal that, 'okay, you guys are doing justice to something I did in the past.' '

"It's not just him, but many members of the star cast. Amrita Ma'am played a reel of one of our songs called 'Chot Dil pe lagi' and I think we were mesmerized because she didn't age a day... It's a It's a good feeling that people in the industry are coming out and putting so much pressure on us and giving us that push that we newcomers need,” Khan added.

Produced by Ramesh Taurani and co-produced by Jaya Taurani under the banner Tips Films Limited, “Ishq Vishk Rebound” will release in theaters on Friday.
