Shimla: Chief Minister Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu on Monday said Himachal Road Transport Corporation (HRTC) will purchase 25 new Volvo buses and 50 Tempo Travelers to strengthen the fleet.

Sukhu, chairing a meeting of the HRTC, assured full support from the state government, which will boost the operations of the corporation.

Additionally, plans are underway to introduce electric buses with a substantial budget of Rs 517 crore allocated for their purchase in the current financial year, he said.

"The state government is committed to provide Rs 63 crore per month to support HRTC in providing excellent transport services to passengers," he said.
