Hyderabad: Hospitality major Marriott International will soon sign an MoU with the Telangana government to set up its Global Capability Center (GCC) here with an investment of Rs 300-400 crore, IT and Industry Minister D Sridhar Babu said on Tuesday. Will do.

He said the project has the potential to provide employment to 1,000 people in a given period.

The minister also said that after the Congress government assumed power, investment MoUs worth about Rs 50,000 crore have been signed, which will soon turn into reality.

“Marriott Group is planning to set up its GCC here (in Hyderabad). They have confirmed it and probably in a day or two, they are signing the MoU with us (state government)... The investment will be Rs 300 crore to Rs 400 crore in a phased manner,'' Sridhar Babu. told.

The American global hotel chain is looking for space to initially accommodate 500 seats and will eventually be upgraded to 1,000.

The minister further said that the state government is in discussions with eight to 10 other companies, including two pharma giants, and asking them to set up their shops in the state.

“All these, once materialized, will provide employment opportunities to about 20,000 to 25,000 people in the next two years,” Sridhar Babu said.

Saying that the Congress government in the state is focusing on skilling the youth on Artificial Intelligence, he said a committee has been appointed to decide the modalities.

Sridhar Babu also indicated that the state government is considering setting up a 'digital university' specializing in digital studies.
