New Delhi: Danix officer Raj Kumar has been suspended by the Home Minister in connection with alleged irregularities related to the Rani Jhansi flyover during his tenure in the Delhi government. Officials gave this information on Friday.

In September last year, the National Capital Civil Services Authority (NCCSA) had recommended suspension of Kumar following recommendations by a committee of senior Delhi government officials.

Kumar, who is currently the secretary of the Delhi Legislative Assembly, said, "I have received the Home Ministry's order regarding my suspension. It is an old matter and I was not given any chance to explain myself, so my There is nothing more to say now.,

According to a Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) order issued on April 16, "disciplinary proceedings" are being considered against Kumar.

"Now, therefore, the President, in exercise of the powers conferred by sub-rule (1) (a) of Rule 10 of the Central Civil Services (Classification, Control of Appeals) Rules, 1965, places Shri Raj Kumar, DANICS Is suspended with immediate effect,” read the order.

The charges against the Delhi, Andaman and Nicobar Islands Civil Service (DANICS) cadre officer relate to his tenure as Additional District Magistrate (Land Acquisition Collector) against city government officials.

After a long delay of almost two decades, the flyover was opened to the public in 2018. The 1.8 km grade separator used to connect Filmistan Cinema Hall to S Stephens Hospital in North Delhi.It was constructed at a cost of Rs 724 crore by the North Delhi Municipal Corporation, which is now part of the integrated MCD, officials said.

Construction of the flyover was delayed amid allegations of corruption and problems related to land acquisition.

Earlier, on November 3, 2022, a Lokpal bench had asked the Central Vigilance Commission to look into the available documents and ongoing court cases and recover additional payments related to the construction of the flyover, officials said.
