Noted historian and Urdu writer Rafat Qureshi, a resident of Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar (formerly Aurangabad), died in Canada on Friday at the age of 78 after a prolonged illness, a family member said.
Family members told that he was living in Ontario for the last several years and his health was not well for the last three-four months.
Qureshi wrote extensively on the history of Aurangabad and its heritage monuments, including a travelogue titled 'Mulk-e Khude Tangnist', about the Ajanta and Ellora caves and the Quil-i-Arc built by the Mughal emperor Aurangzeb. Contains important information.
Aurangabadnama, a book he co-wrote with his art historian wife Dulari Qureshi, was recently published.
