Diarrhea is on the rise again in Himachal Pradesh's Hamirpur with more than 200 people in 12 villages in the district falling ill in less than a week, officials said on Monday.

A similar outbreak was reported in March, affecting more than 400 people in the district. It took about 10 days for the administration to control this.

He said that the state health department has sent its team to the affected villages falling under Lamblu, Chamnad, Gasota, Baffrin and Pandher gram panchayats.

The first case was reported on Friday and the number has been rising since then, officials said, adding there were 120 patients in Lamblu and Chamnad panchayats.

The CMO visited the affected areas and asked people to drink only boiled water and not consume stale food and overripe fruits.

He said, "The situation is completely under control and all facilities are being provided to the people at their homes by the health department."

The department and Jal Shakti department have taken water samples from the affected areas.

In January 2023, around 1,000 people were struck by diarrhea in the Rangas area of ​​Nadaun, the assembly constituency of Chief Minister Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu. It returned in June, affecting 10 panchayats adjacent to Hamirpur city.
