Mandi (Himachal Pradesh) [India] Cyclist Jaspreet Pal, 44, resident of Upper Samkhetar, Mandi district, was given a national election campaign to encourage youth to exercise their right to vote and to make voters aware of its value. The icon has been declared. Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Manis Garg and Jaspreet Pal on Monday signed an agreement document on behalf of the state election department for their vote in the grand festival of democracy. Pal is an avid cyclist and a professional photographer. Apart from this, he has contributed a lot in child literacy, environmental protection etc. While interacting with Jaspreet Pal, the CEO suggested to organize a cycle relay rally/race across the state for voter awareness and mass awareness. Earlier, while interacting with the media, the CEO said till now Pal has covered a distance of about 21 thousand kilometers in various difficult terrains, won the Fire Fox Challenge Cycling Championship and stood second in the MT Championship in 2021. The idea behind the inclusion of Jaspreet is to especially engage the youth from both urban and rural areas. The CEO said, along with voting in the state, one has to remain fit as well. Elections to four Lok Sabha seats in Himachal Pradesh and by-elections to six assembly constituencies, which fell vacant due to the disqualification of rebel Congress MLAs and their eventual joining the BJP, will be held on June 1.
