Shimla (Himachal Pradesh) [India], Himachal Pradesh Assembly Speaker Kuldeep Singh Pathania on Wednesday warned Opposition Leader Jairam Thakur over his comments related to the Speaker's decisions and said action could be taken against him.

"I would appeal to the opposition leader to comment on the president's competence and limits. I will be forced to take action against it," Pathania told reporters in Shimla.

"The productivity of the Assembly has been 132 per cent during this period. All government and opposition members were given equal time. I have discharged my duties as per law," Pathania told ANI.

The Speaker said the courts have not found fault with his decisions, including those related to MLAs who cross-voted in the Rajya Sabha polls.

He advised Jairam Thakur, former chief minister of the state, to be patient and avoid commenting on the decision of the court and the president.

"The resignation of three MLAs was accepted...they violated the provisions of the tenth calendar. The statements of the opposition leader show that he has no faith in the judiciary or democracy, I advise him to be patient and not feel frustrated "Pathania told reporters in Shimla.

"The High Court had also given the order that the jurisdiction of the Speaker cannot be interfered with and the orders were as per law. The LoP and BJP legislators are trying to gain political benefits by misleading people on these issues I don't know I need some certificate from the leader of the opposition, Jairam Thakur, I should respect the mandate of the people and the mandate of the Supreme Court of India. I have been working as a spokesperson for about one and a half years and the actions and procedures of the. Assembly are a privilege of the President and the Assembly," he added.

Jairam Thakur had earlier attacked the president claiming that he is acting as a "puppet" of the state chief minister.
