Surendra Paul, director of the Meteorological Center in Shimla, said, Shimla recorded the highest temperature of this season at 30.6 degrees Celsius.

Speaking to reporters on Friday, Paul said that parts of Una, Bilaspur, Sirmaur, Shimla, Solan and Kangra are likely to face severe heat in two to three days.

"However, there are some chances of rain after June 18, which may bring down the temperature and provide relief from the heat," the director said.

"If the current conditions continue and monsoon progresses normally in Maharashtra, Odisha and Chhattisgarh, then monsoon may reach Himachal Pradesh by the end of June," he said.

The Director also mentioned that the pre-monsoon meeting focused on the severity and preparedness of the monsoon, especially in the first two weeks of June and July.

He indicated that the monsoon is expected to be normal this year.

On Thursday, heat wave was prevalent in seven districts across the state, with Neri in Hamirpur district crossing 45 degrees Celsius.

The heat waves are reminiscent of 2007 when the maximum temperature in Una was recorded at 42.1 degrees, but this year the temperature exceeded 43 degrees Celsius on Wednesday.
