New Delhi [India], President Draupadi Murmu on Sunday expressed grief over the loss of lives of seven newborns in a fire at the New Born Baby Care Hospital in Delhi's Vivek Vihar. “Several deaths have been reported,” the president said in a post on Twitter. The incident of fire in a hospital in Vivek Vihar, Delhi is heart-wrenching. May God give strength to the bereaved parents and relatives to bear this shock. I pray for the speedy recovery of other children injured in this incident. Arvind Kejriwal also expressed grief over the incident.In a post on Twitter, Kejriwal said, 'This incident of fire in the children's hospital is heart-wrenching. We all stand with those who lost their innocent children in this accident. Government and administration officials are busy providing treatment to the injured on the spot. The reasons for the incident are being investigated and whoever is responsible for this negligence will not be spared. Delhi Health Minister Saurabh Bhardwaj also took cognizance of the incident and assured strict action, "A very unfortunate incident has been reported. I have asked the Secretary (Health) to update me about the current situation. The culprits will be spared." will not go.Strict punishment will be ensured for those "found negligent or involved in any wrongdoing," Bhardwaj said. According to officials, 12 children were rescued from the spot, where one had already died before the fire broke out. "Six newborns lost their lives and five others have been admitted to the hospital after the fire," Delhi Police said, adding that the owner of the care center is still absconding. Atul Garg, Director of Delhi Fire Department, said, “It was a very difficult operation.We formed two teams. A team started extinguishing the fire as the cylinders were exploding, we can say a series of cylinder explosions. So we couldn't even save ourselves." We started a rescue operation for the babies as well. Unfortunately, we couldn't save all the babies. We took all the twelve babies to the hospital.But after arriving, they announced that 6 people were dead. Was a regrettable incident. The rescued newborns were shifted to East Delhi Advanced NICU hospital, all of them are on oxygen support and undergoing treatment.
