In an animated post, the ministry called on employers to provide proper drinking water facilities at the workplace.

Some of the suggestions shared by the ministry were, "Schedule strenuous and outdoor work during cooler times of the day, increase frequency of rest."

It also advised employers to train employees to recognize the symptoms of heat-related illness.

Exposure to excessive heat can have health effects, ranging from rashes to potentially fatal health problems such as heat exhaustion and heatstroke.

The ministry said headache, dizziness, dehydration and breathing problems are common symptoms of heat-related illness.

Meanwhile, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Sunday issued a 're-alert' for several states of North India, including Delhi, due to continuous heat wave and high temperatures.

IMD said the temperature in Delhi is likely to remain between 43 to 47 degrees Celsius.
