Mumbai: Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Sanjay Raut on Friday said anti-corruption activist Anna Hazare should expose scams across the country, including the alleged electoral bond scam.

Raut was referring to reports that the 80-year-old leader would challenge the police closure report in the alleged multi-crore Maharashtra State Cooperative Bank (MSCB) case, in which Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar is also among the accused.

The Sena (UBT) leader said Hazare, whose anti-corruption campaign was one of the major reasons behind the defeat of the Congress in the 2014 Lok Sabha elections and the birth of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), should protest at the Ramlila Maidan against the scams. . In Maharashtra and the country.

In April, Mumbai Police filed a closure report into the alleged Rs 25,000 crore MSCB scam, saying the bank did not suffer any undue loss due to loans given to sugar mills and other entities.

About Hazare's apparent plan to challenge the closure report, Raut said, “I am happy that Anna Hazare has woken up.I congratulate him for this. But 'Shikhar' (MSCB) bank scam is not the only one that has happened in Maharashtra. The state and the country have seen scams after scams.”

Raut said Hazare should also expose the alleged Rs 10,000 crore electoral bond scam. “Money is being extorted by central agencies in Maharashtra and across the country and it is going into the BJP coffers,” he claimed.

The Rajya Sabha MP urged Hazare to protest against the closure report in cases involving MLAs from the camps of Chief Minister Eknath Shinde and Deputy Chief Minister Pawar after joining the BJP-led 'Mahayuti' alliance.

The opposition has accused the BJP-led Center of weaponizing federal agencies against those who speak against it.
