New Delhi [India], Former cricketers Matthew Hayden and Paul Collingwood predicted England, India, West Indies and "unfortunately" Australia as the finalists for the T20 World Cup 2024.

The marquee event began on June 1 with co-hosts USA successfully chasing 195 – the third highest score in tournament history – against Canada.

According to Geo News, former opening batsman Hayden chose India and Australia as the finalists of the tournament.

While Collingwood backed England and co-hosts West Indies as the two finalists of the current edition.

Collingwood said, “The top two will be England and West Indies, I think they will go far.,

Earlier, former Collingwood compatriot Graeme Swann had picked his final four for the ongoing edition of the tournament. He believes England, India, West Indies and, "unfortunately," England's arch-rival Australia, will reach the final. He chose West Indies ahead of Pakistan, South Africa and New Zealand.

"The top four teams I would go for are India and England, and then unfortunately Australia and then West Indies," Swann told ANI.

2011 World Cup winner Yuvraj Singh has also given his predictions for the finalists of the ongoing tournament. He picked India, West Indies and Pakistan as his top picks and expects Australia to miss out on the spot.

"I'm expecting India, maybe West Indies. Pakistan three, and no Australians (laughs)," Yuvraj said during an event in the US.

Before the start of the tournament, Yuvraj was made the ambassador of the T20 World Cup. The 2007 World Cup winner backed his team to lift the trophy for the first time since 2007, but only if he believed in himself.

Yuvraj said, “I believe we have the confidence to win big tournaments.I think if India believes and backs itself and plays to its strengths, I am sure they will go further. And that's what I believe in," he said.

"I think that's why we won. We focused on where and how we are good and what we need to do, rather than thinking about where the opponent will hurt us," he said.We have match winners."

India have been placed in Group A and will begin their campaign against Ireland on June 5 in New York.
