Hathras (Uttar Pradesh) [India], Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Wednesday said a judicial inquiry will be initiated under the chairmanship of a retired High Court judge into the stampede incident in Uttar Pradesh's Hathras. He also vowed to punish those responsible.

Chief Minister Adityanath visited Hathras on Tuesday and met those injured in the stampede and the families of the deceased.

He went to Hathras District Hospital to inquire about the condition of the people injured in the accident and instructed the doctors to provide proper treatment to all the injured.

He also visited the stampede site and gathered information about the incident. At least 121 people were killed in the incident and an FIR has been registered under sections of the Indian Justice Code against Devprakash Madhukar and other unidentified organizers of the satsang program organized at Sikandra Rao in Hathras.

Taking immediate action, Yogi immediately sent the team of three ministers and the Chief Secretary and DGP to Hathras.

The Chief Minister also appointed Additional Director General Agra and Divisional Commissioner Aligarh to investigate the incident and directed them to submit the report within 24 hours.

CM has announced financial assistance of Rs 2-2 lakh to the families of the deceased and Rs 50-50 thousand to the injured.

Earlier, the CM had also announced financial assistance of Rs 2 lakh each to the families of the deceased and Rs 50 thousand each to the injured.

The eyewitness to the incident and the woman constable on duty told the entire incident to the Chief Minister.

He said that after the stampede, people kept falling on each other. A large number of women became victims of the stampede. She wanted to get up but could not as the women kept falling on her one after the other.

All three ministers of CM Yogi – Chief Secretary, DGP and local MLA were also present at the spot.
