Mainpuri (Uttar Pradesh) [India], The Uttar Pradesh Police on Thursday carried out a search operation at Ram Kutir Charitable Trust in Mainpuri in search of 'Bhole Baba', a self-styled god who conducted a satsang in Hathras, where caused a stampede that killed 123 people. .

An FIR has been registered in the incident naming the organizers of the prayer meeting, but 'Bhole Baba' is yet to be named.

Earlier in the day, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Mainpuri Sunil Kumar said, "Baba has not been found inside the ashram."

"There are 40 to 50 sevadars inside the ashram. He ('Bhole Baba') is not inside, neither yesterday nor today..." said DSP Mainpuri Sunil Kumar.

Rahul Mithas of SP City said, "I had come to check the security of the ashram. They did not find anyone here."

The police force was deployed around the ashram early today morning.

On Wednesday, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath visited the spot and ordered a judicial inquiry into the incident.

According to an official statement, a three-member Judicial Commission of Inquiry has been constituted under the chairmanship of Justice (retd) Brijesh Kumar Srivastava to ensure completeness of the matter and transparency of the investigation.

The Judicial Commission will investigate the various aspects of the Hathras stampede in the next two months and after the investigation, a report will be submitted to the State Government.

The preacher 'Bhole Baba' identified as Suraj Pal is also known by the names Narayan Sakar Hari and Jagat Guru Vishwahari.

According to the prima facie report, the devotees rushed to seek blessings and collect dirt around the preacher's feet, but were stopped by 'Bhole Baba's' security personnel. Later they began to push each other, causing several people to fall to the ground, creating chaos in the place.

Some people ran towards the adjacent field full of mud, causing them to fall and be crushed by other devotees, the report states. "The injured were taken to hospital by police and security personnel present at the scene," he added.
