Hathras (UP): The Uttar Pradesh government's SIT probing the Hathras stampede has recorded 90 statements so far, panel chief Anupam Kulshrestha said on Friday.

Kulshrestha, also Additional Director General of Police (Agra Zone), is heading the three-member Special Investigation Team (SIT) that is preparing a detailed report on the stampede that followed a satsang here on July 2, in which 121 people lost their lives. Had gone.

Speaking exclusively in Hathras, ADG Kulshrestha said, "Ninety statements have been recorded so far. A preliminary report has been submitted while work on a detailed report is underway."

On the status of the police investigation, the officer said that the scope of the investigation has been expanded as more evidence has come to light.

"Certainly, the evidence gathered suggests culpability on the part of the event organizers," he said.

Meanwhile, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has been informed about the preliminary report of SIT on the stampede in Lucknow.

That report was submitted by ADG Agra Zone, who was one of the top officials who visited Hathras to monitor the rescue and relief measures after the stampede in Hathras on July 2.

The confidential report includes statements of Hathras District Magistrate Ashish Kumar, Superintendent of Police Nipun Aggarwal and senior health department officials, who took note of the emergency situation caused by the stampede.
