Faridabad, Cow vigilante Bittu Bajrangi has lodged a police complaint that he has been receiving threat calls ahead of the Braj Mandal Jalabhishek Yatra proposed on July 22 in Haryana's Nuh, which had witnessed violence last year after a mob tried to stop it.

Five people, including two home guards, were killed and several were injured in the violence that broke out in Nuh on July 31 last year and spread to other areas of the state. A Naib Imam was murdered in a mosque amid a series of arson incidents in Gurugram.

Based on the complaint of Rajkumar alias Bittu Bajrangi, an FIR was registered at Saran police station in Faridabad, Haryana on Wednesday, police said.

In his complaint, Bajrangi said that on July 6, he received a call on his mobile phone from a man who asked him to stay away from Nuh or be killed.

Last year too, Bajrangi was asked not to attend the yatra organized by Vishwa Hindu Parishad and violence broke out when he announced his intention to join the procession.

Citing the FIR, police said Bajrangi claimed that the caller told him that last time he escaped but this time they would kill him.

According to the complaint, the caller told Bajrangi that a plan was hatched to kill him and if he wanted to stay alive, "send Rs 1 lakh on this mobile..."

Bajrangi also said in his complaint that the caller told him, "If you do not send the money, we will kill you. If you come to Nalhar temple, you will not survive."

Bajrangi said that ever since the yatra plan was announced and its date was revealed as July 22, he has been receiving such calls.

Police said an FIR has been registered against the unknown caller under sections 351(2), (3) and 308 (2) of the BNS, which relate to criminal intimidation and threat of grievous hurt or death.
