Gurugram: Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini on Thursday honored cricketer Yuzvendra Chahal for winning this year's T20 Cricket World Cup.

Saini presented a medal to Chahal and presented him a statue of Lord Krishna during a meeting to honor him at the PWD rest house. He encouraged the cricketer to continue bringing glory to Haryana.

The cricketer's father Krishna Kumar Chahal also spoke to the Chief Minister and shared stories of his son's achievements and said that he is extremely proud that his son is being honored by the CM.

Leggie's mother Sunita Kumari Chahal expressed happiness that her son is receiving such praise.

Officials present at the meeting told Saini that Chahal is the only athlete who has represented India in both chess and cricket. He has participated in the World Youth Chess Championship.

The CM also announced plans to organize a felicitation ceremony for Paralympic athletes and other sportspersons from the state soon. He said that Haryana is the land of athletes who consistently excel in international sports and enhance the prestige of the country across the world.
