According to Egyptian sources, Hamas has informed them that they want to end the war completely and seek the resettlement of Palestinians who have been displaced from northern Gaza to the southern Gaza area since the war began.

Sources in the Israeli Prime Minister's Office told IANS that they have received information that Hamas is not interested in a temporary ceasefire.

Mediators had insisted on a six-week ceasefire and the release of at least three Israeli hostages in exchange for about 600 Palestinian prisoners held in Israeli jails.

Israeli officials said they backed down from their demands based on requests from mediator countries, including Qatar and Egypt.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu clearly told visiting US Secretary of State Antony Blinken on Wednesday that Israel will attack Rafah and has already deployed an IDF unit to the area.

According to Israeli Defense Ministry sources, Hamas will have to respond to mediators on Thursday over its position regarding the hostages.
