Gurugram: A 35-year-old woman was injured and is unconscious after she was allegedly shot at by two motorcycle-borne assailants on the Dwarka Expressway here. Police gave this information on Saturday.

Police said that the incident took place near a petrol pump at 9.20 pm on Friday night when Pallavi Sharma, a beautician living in Riddhi-Siddhi Society in Sector 102, was working on her scooter.

He said four people, including a lawyer and two shooters, have been arrested in connection with the case.

The main accused, Nitish Bhardwaj, a lawyer and resident of Vishnu Garden, revealed that Sharma came in contact with him after she had filed a case of assault against her husband.After separating from her husband in Chandigarh, Sharma had been living here for the last 13 years with her two sons, aged 12 and seven.

Police said, Bhardwaj claimed that he and Sharma became friends but "later he started harassing her so he planned to get her murdered."

A senior police officer said Bhardwaj revealed that earlier too he had once tried to plan an accident to kill Sharma but could not succeed.

According to the police, this time, Bhardwaj contacted accused Gulshan, whom he met through one of his friends, to kill Sharma. He said that Gulshan provided motorcycles and weapons to accused Raja and Bunty to commit the crime.Police said that as Sharma reached near the petrol pump, Raja and Bunty came from behind on a motorcycle and Raja shot her, causing her to fall from her scooter.

He told that the bullet hit him in his waist and passed through his stomach.

While the two immediately fled the scene, Gulshan was in a van and was watching the incident from a distance, police said.

Police said some cab drivers took Sharma to a nearby private hospital, where he is unconscious.

After getting information about the incident from the police, his father Rajkumar Sharma reached the hospital.

Rajkumar, a Punjab native, said earlier in the day, “I am not aware of any rivalry involving my daughter.We can get more information only after my daughter regains consciousness."

Following a complaint by the woman's father, an FIR was registered at the Rajendra Park police station under IPC sections 307 (attempt to murder), 34 (common intention) and the Arms Act, police said.
