MCG Joint Commissioner Pradeep Kumar on Monday directed the advertising branch and enforcement branch officials to ensure removal of illegal advertisements in their respective areas within a day.

The officer said he would personally visit the area after seven days and if any irregularities were found, necessary action would be taken against the officials concerned.

The MCG Commissioner also asked the Advertisement Branch officials to conduct a special drive to remove posters, hoardings and unauthorized signboards Unipol put up at various places in the city.

He said that the agencies which are not applying for advertising permission should be asked to apply within a week. If the application is not made in between, then along with removing the advertisement of the concerned agency, a letter should be written to the companies whose advertisements are placed.

“A big campaign will be launched against illegal advertisements. No one will be allowed to disobey orders. Illegal display of advertisements will not be tolerated under any circumstances,” Kumar said.

He said that the Municipal Corporation suffers loss of revenue due to illegal advertising. Before displaying the advertisement, it is mandatory to obtain approval by paying the prescribed fee.
