Mumbai, Filmmaker Gurinder Chadha on Friday officially announced his new film "Christmas Karma", a contemporary Bollywood musical inspired by Charles Dickens' classic "A Christmas Carol".

"The Big Bang Theory" alumnus Kunal Nayyar will play the lead role of Scrooge in the film, which also stars Eva Longoria, Billy Porter Hugh Bonneville, Boy George, Leo Suter, Charitra Chandran, Pixie Lott, Dan. Dyer, Bilal Hasna, Alan Corduner, Tracy-Ann Oberman, Rufus Jones, Eve and Neeti Ganatra.

Chaddha, who is best known for "Bhaaji on the Beach", "Bend It Like Beckham", "Bride N Prejudice", "Angus, Thongs and Perfect Snogging", "It's a Wonderful Afterlife" and "Viceroy House", besides Also producing and writing the new film, which will feature music written by acclaimed British singer-songwriter Gary Barlow.

With "Christmas Karma", the aim is to create a festive classic "for our times and for generations to come," Chadha said.“By adapting one of the greatest novels in history – Charles Dickens' 'A Christmas Carol' – I am creating a British film from my unique, original perspective that matches Dickens's classic statement on the human condition.

The 64-year-old director said, "I have been blessed with such a great diverse cast and eclectic music team – the soundtrack will be a blast, influenced by gospel, bhangra, carols and classic pop songs. You won't be able to sit still." I said a statement.

Published in 1843, "A Christmas Carol" tells the story of an elderly miser, Ebenezer Scrooge, who is visited by the ghost of his former business partner Jacob Marley and the spirits of Christmas Past, Present and Yet to Come. In the process, Scrooge transforms into a kinder, gentler man.
