CHANDIGARH: A local BJP leader here on Tuesday lauded Prime Minister Narendra Modi's initiative for Sikhs and claimed that due to his efforts Gurbani is now being translated into 19 Indian languages ​​as well as Spanish.

The effort, which began to commemorate the 550th 'Prakash Parv' birth anniversary of Guru Nanak Dev - is succeeding, as with the help of UNESCO, Gurbani is also being translated into international languages ​​like Spanish, the second most spoken language. It is a known language. Language in Europe, said Bharatiya Janata Party national spokesperson R P Singh.

RP Singh accused previous opposition governments of failing to make significant efforts to resolve long-standing Sikh concerns.

Singh said, "Earlier, Sikhs could only reach Kartarpur Sahib in Pakistan through the telescope from Dera Baba Nanak (Punjab). Modi ji opened the Kartarpur Corridor."

He alleged that Congress missed the opportunity to secure Kartarpur Sahi from Pakistan after the 1971 war, when more than 90,000 Pakistani soldiers surrendered to India.

The politician highlighted changes like making langar tax-free and changing rules to allow foreign donations to the Golden Temple as two achievements of the Modi government.

He said, "Modi ji ensured that the 550th Prakash Parv of Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji, 400th Prakash Parv of Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji and 350th Prakash Parv of Guru Gobind Singh Ji are celebrated by the Government of India."

Singh highlighted the Modi government's recognition of the martyrdom of 'Sahibzade' (son of Guru Gobind Singh) by celebrating 'Veer Bal Diwas' and organizing various programs in schools and colleges to spread the message.

Voting for all 13 Lok Sabha seats in Punjab will be held in the seventh and last phase on June 1.
