Ahmedabad, The Gujarat government on Tuesday announced the formation of the Gujarat State Institution of Transformation or 'GRIT', a NITI Aayog-inspired think tank to help realize the vision of 'Viksit' or developed state by 2047.

GRIT has drawn up a vision document and roadmap for 'Viksit Gujarat @ 2047', according to an official statement here.

The Chief Minister will head the governing body of GRIT with the Finance Minister as vice-chairman and the ministers of Agriculture, Health, Education and Industry as members, he said.

"Following the model of NITI Aayog, 'GRIT' has been created, chaired by Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel," the statement said.

Among other things, he will review the implementation of the recommendations of his task force committee to achieve the goal of becoming a five trillion dollar economy, he said.

GRIT's ten-member executive committee, headed by its CEO, will run its day-to-day operations.

Its governing body will include the principal advisor to the Chief Minister, the principal secretary and the additional chief secretary or principal secretary of the Finance and Planning Departments.

The state government will nominate experts in fields such as agriculture, finance and economic affairs, industrial infrastructure, health and nutrition, skill development and employment, and education to the think tank, the statement said.

A retired or serving additional chief secretary level official (to be appointed by the government) will act as executive director and member secretary of the governing body of GRIT.

He will also recommend strategies for balanced economic growth in sectors such as industry, agriculture, investment and exports.

GRIT will review, evaluate and monitor state schemes and programmes, identify areas for improvement and provide recommendations aligned with the long-term vision of the 'Viksit Gujarat @2047' roadmap, the government said.

It will also "promote good governance to ensure consistent policy formulation and decisions in line with the priorities outlined in the State Vision Document and recommend key focus areas for long-term comprehensive development," he said.

GRIT will also suggest new development initiatives by improving coordination between state government departments, Government of India, NITI Aayog, civil society and other stakeholders, propose strategies for multidimensional development and review successful policies and best practices from national contexts. and international.

It will collaborate with leading organizations for cross-sector partnerships, knowledge sharing and capacity development programs, and foster the integration of cutting-edge technologies such as artificial intelligence, machine learning, the Internet of Things, robotics, GIS and information technology. drones. and blockchain.

GRIT will also advise the state government on mechanisms to mobilize financial resources for development through asset monetization, international financial institutions, CSR trust funds and other sources.

The governing body will meet at least once a year and when necessary, at the discretion of the president.

The executive committee will hold quarterly meetings. The Department of General Administration-Planning Division will issue a formal resolution detailing the composition and scope of the GRIT, the statement said.
