Kolkata, Defense PSU Garden Reach Shipbuilders and Engineers (GRSE) Ltd on Saturday signed an agreement with a Germany-based shipping company for the construction and delivery of four multi-role cargo ships, an official said.

GRSE informed the National Stock Exchange and BSE that the value of the contract is approximately US$ 54 million and the order is to be executed in 33 months.

GRSE signed the agreement with shipping company Carsten Rehder Schiffsmackler und Reederei GmbH & Co. KG, Germany, for the construction and delivery of four multi-purpose vessels with an option to build another four vessels in the near future, a GRSE official said in a statement. . ,

The GRSE official said the ships will be 120 meters long and 17 meters wide and each ship can carry 7,500 metric tonnes of cargo.

The ships will have a single cargo hold to accommodate bulk, general and project cargo, with provision to carry containers on hatch covers, he said, adding that the ships will be specifically designed to carry several large windmill blades on deck. Is designed for.
