Noida: The Greater Noida Industrial Development Authority (GNIDA) on Saturday used bulldozers to demolish illegal structures in a village here and freed about 75,000 square meters of land from encroachments, which has an estimated market value of Rs 150 crore.

According to an official statement, the demolition action in Tusyana village took place on the instructions of GNIDA CEO NG Ravi Kumar.

"On Saturday morning, a team of Work Circle Three demolished the illegal construction going on at plot numbers 517, 964, 981, 985, 995 and 1,007 in Tusyana village," the statement said.

It said, "Local colonizers were attempting to develop an unauthorized colony on approximately 75,000 square meters of land. The team led by Work Circle Three in-charge Narottam Chaudhary successfully demolished the illegal structures and vacated the land.,

Considering the cost at the prevailing rate of Rs 20,000 per square meter in the area, the authority has estimated the value of the reclaimed land at around Rs 150 crore.

Himanshu Verma, general manager and OSD of the project department, warned that the authority will not tolerate land grabbing in notified areas.

He instructed all the work circle in-charges of the project department to keep strict vigil in their respective areas and take immediate action on receiving information about encroachment.

Additional CEO Annapurna Garg advised the public not to invest their hard-earned money in plots in illegal colonies.

He said, “If anyone has purchased a plot in an unauthorized colony, they should lodge a complaint with the police along with the registry document and also give a copy to the authority so that legal action can be taken against such colonizers.,

He also stressed the importance of contacting the authority to verify details before purchasing any land in Greater Noida.

GNIDA is a statutory body under the Government of Uttar Pradesh, entrusted with the planned development of Greater Noida, a city in the Gautam Buddh Nagar district.
