Leader of the Opposition (LoP) Vijay Wadettiwar said that as the monsoon session was underway, it will not be possible to attend today's meeting. The meeting was supposed to take place on Monday but did not take place due to heavy rain.

Wadettiwar said Chief Minister and Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis had already held talks with pro-Maratha and pro-OBC activists, but what transpired in those meetings was not conveyed to the opposition parties.

"If the CM and Deputy CM had informed the outcome of the meetings, it would have been helpful if the opposition had participated in today's meeting," he added.

Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar appealed to the opposition to reconsider his decision and attend today's meeting. “Opposition leaders can attend the meeting and express their concerns. Today's meeting is aimed at maintaining social harmony, especially in the wake of issues raised by Maratha, OBC and other communities. The opposition can make their suggestions at the meeting. That is why I request you to attend today's meeting,” the Deputy Chief Minister said.

NCP legislator Jayant Patil said the opposition wants the issues raised by the Maratha and OBC communities to be resolved amicably and they are not opposed to these issues.

“A meeting of all parties has already been held. There is no point in attending today's meeting again as the CM and Deputy CM should have told what they discussed with Maratha and OBC activists in the past. In any case, the government will make a final decision,” he added.

Congress legislator Nana Patole also said that today's meeting should have been held if the state government had informed the opposition about the deliberations that the CM and deputy CM took place with the Maratha and OBC activists.

Tuesday's all-party meeting called by the Chief Minister is crucial as pro-Maratha activist Manoj Jarange Patil has been traveling across the state demanding the decision on all-inclusive reservation, while OBC leader, Laxman Hake, who broke his indefinite fast following the intervention of the state government, is demanding that the government not touch the OBC quota while providing benefits to the Martha community.
