Addressing the International Innovation Conference organized by the PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PHDCCI) here, the minister said the government is keen to promote the drone industry which has seen rapid growth in the last three years.

Goyal also said that technological advancements in the drone industry will help deal with irregular weather patterns and help farmers achieve higher quality and greater quantity of produce.

He said that drones can contribute as a common facility in delivering fertilizers to the cooperative sector, Self Help Groups (SHGs) and Farmer Producer Organizations (FPOs) with the help of Agri-Infra Fund and reduce wastage and expenditure of farmers. .

Goyal said that for financing and guiding the drone ecosystem, SIDBI can be involved to promote the sector.

The minister also said that the production-linked incentive (PLI) scheme for drones and drone components is a kickstarter for the progress of the sector and should not be considered as a permanent subsidy scheme from the government.

"In the third term of the Prime Minister's administration, we will work at triple the pace, ensure triple the results and look forward to becoming the third largest economy in the world," Goyal said.

On the startup ecosystem, the minister said 18 initial public offerings (IPOs) have already been launched in the first half of 2024, while 17 IPOs were launched in 2023.

"Under the guidance of PM Modi, the country has received unprecedented investment from foreign investors and there has been a massive emphasis on infrastructure," Goyal said.

He also said that ease of doing business as well as regulations and compliance burden on startups has been the primary focus of the government.
