New Delhi, The Union Home Ministry has extended the ban imposed on pro-Khalistan group Sikh for Justice (SFJ) for anti-India activities by five years.

In a notification issued on Tuesday, the Home Ministry said the SFJ was declared a banned organization under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act five years ago for its anti-national activities, which are prejudicial to the internal security and integrity of the country.

It said the SFJ is involved in anti-national and subversive activities in Punjab and elsewhere and intends to disrupt the sovereignty and territorial integrity of India.

The ministry said that the SFJ is encouraging and aiding activities to secede a part of the Indian territory from the Union of India and for this purpose by engaging in activities and expressions intended to disrupt sovereignty and territorial integrity. The notification said that in view of the role of SFJ in various subversive activities, the Home Ministry has extended the ban imposed under UAPA for five years with effect from July 10.
