Mumbai (Maharashtra) [India], Nationalist Congress Party - Sharadchandra Pawar leader Rohit Pawar claimed that the Mahayuti government is playing politics by introducing 'Mukhyanantri Majhi Ladki Bahin' scheme because the government has not allocated funds enough for it.

"The government is playing politics under the Ladli Bahin scheme. The government has come up with this scheme keeping the elections in mind. But the truth is that the government has not allocated enough funds for this scheme, so it seems that this scheme is falling apart. will run only till the elections, then it may be closed due to lack of funds," Pawar said while speaking to ANI on Friday.

Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister and NCP chief Ajit Pawar, who also holds the finance portfolio in the state, presented the state budget in the Maharashtra Assembly last week during the ongoing Monsoon Session.

He announced the 'Mukhyanantri Majhi Ladki Bahin', a scheme under which all women between the ages of 21 and 60 will receive 1,500 per month. The scheme is inspired by the Madhya Pradesh BJP government's Ladli Behna Yojana.

Presenting the budget, Pawar said, "We are announcing Mukhyanantri Majhi Ladki Bahin (CM My Beloved Sister). Under this, all women will get Rs 1,500 per month. The scheme will be implemented from July 2024."

Ajit Pawar said in the State Assembly on Friday that all beneficiaries of the Mukhyamantri Majhi Ladki Bahin scheme will get the benefit from July, even if their documentation is completed in August or later.

"We have also decided to extend the application deadline till August 31 and women up to 65 years of age can apply instead of 60 years as announced earlier," Ajit Pawar said.

Ajit Pawar also announced several welfare schemes while presenting the Budget in the Assembly.

“We will give a bonus of Rs 5,000 per hectare to all farmers for their cotton and soyabean crops in Maharashtra... We will also give a bonus of Rs 5 per liter to dairy farmers even after July 1, 2024. The government has increased monetary aid in deaths due to animal attacks, now the next of kin will get Rs 25 lakhs instead of Rs 20 lakhs earlier," Pawar said.

Under the CM Anna Chhatra Yojana of the Maharashtra government, Pawar said, "We will give 3 free cylinders every year to every household."

On taxes on diesel and petrol, Pawar said: "The tax on diesel is being reduced from 24 per cent to 21 per cent for the Mumbai region, which effectively equates to Rs 2 per liter less in the price of diesel. While gasoline is reduced from 26 percent to 25 percent." which will effectively reduce petrol rates by 65 Paise per liter."

"All religious minorities in Maharashtra will be supported by the Maharashtra government under schemes for the poor. The government has already made available a separate category for the third gender to enable them to avail benefits from other government schemes. The health insurance limit for families is being increased to 5 lakhs from 1.5 lakhs earlier. Also, the number of panelized hospitals has been increased from 1,000 to 1,900 hospitals," he said.

"The government will provide help for planting bamboo and Rs 175 will be provided for each bamboo plantation. To make free power available to farmers, 8 lakh solar pumps will be provided," Ajit Pawar said.

The monsoon session of the Maharashtra Assembly began on Thursday (June 28) and will continue till July 12. This is the last legislative session before the state assembly elections that will be held in the next four months.
