New Delhi, The government on Monday revised the norms related to acceptable amount of wastage and standard input output in respect of export of gold and silver jewellery.

An industry official said that wastage rules have been relaxed and manufacturers are disappointed by this.

"The wastage allowance and standard input-output norms in respect of export of jewelery have been revised," the Directorate General of Foreign Trade said in a public notice.

An official of the Gems and Jewelery Export Council said that the industry was not consulted before taking this decision.

According to the public notice, the weight of gold or silver mountings and inclusions (or parts), if imported and used in export products, is not included in determining the net content of gold and silver in the export products. Will go.

Standard Input-Output Norms (SION) are rules that define the quantity of inputs/inputs required to produce a unit of output for export purposes.

Input output norms are applicable for products like electronics engineering, chemicals, fish and marine products handicrafts, food products including plastics and leather products.
