New Delhi: Gold prices rose by Rs 45 to Rs 71,900 per 10 grams in futures trade on Tuesday due to buying of fresh deals by speculators due to strong spot demand.

On the Multi Commodity Exchange, gold contracts for June delivery rose by Rs 45, or 0.06 per cent, to Rs 71,900 per 10 gram with a turnover of 12,625 lots.

The analyst said gold prices rose due to fresh positions being created by participants.

Globally, gold futures fell 0.03 per cent to US$2,342.30 an ounce in New York.
