PANAJI: Police on Wednesday arrested two members of an inter-state gang involved in burglaries at several houses in Goa and Delhi, among other places, and cracked a theft case in the coastal state, a senior officer said.

A Goa Police spokesperson said Arman Khan (33), a resident of Gokulpuri in north-east Delhi, and Pawan Gaur (22), a native of Bhiwandi city in Maharashtra, were arrested for breaking into a house in Miramar. On the outskirts of Panaji on Tuesday.

Khan was wanted by the police of several states in cases of vandalism of more than 25 houses. The police spokesperson said, the accused was part of an inter-state organized group of thieves named "Razia Gang".

He said the police received a complaint from a woman living in Miramar that on July 2, some unknown people entered her apartment and decamped with valuables and gold worth Rs 75,000.

A team of police officers, after examining CCTV footage of the area, focused on the couple who was staying in a hotel in Colva, South Goa.

"Both were taken into custody and during interrogation they confessed to their involvement in the (July 2) theft," the spokesperson said.

The official said the accused also admitted that they had committed similar crimes in the jurisdiction of Verna police station in South Goa and other places including Delhi.
