Mandrem (Goa) [India], Mandrem Police of Goa launched a crackdown on a major international sex trafficking racket in a joint operation with NGO Anya Rahit Zindagi.

Officials said the raid team arrested the ringleader, Jojo Nkintu, a Ugandan citizen, and uncovered a systematic operation in which economically vulnerable and single mothers from Uganda were on the traffickers' target list.

Two victims have been rescued.

According to the police, an FIR has been registered against the accused under Section 370 of the IPC and Sections 4, 5 and 7 of the Immoral Traffic (Prevention) Act.

The rescued women have been kept in a security home in Merces.

According to SP North Akshat Kaushal, economically weak and young single mothers from Uganda were falsely promised employment in restaurants and cafes in Goa. After being brought to India, traffickers threatened the young women and confiscated their passports and visas, forcing them into prostitution under threat of violence.

The racket, a close-knit group linked to smuggler Jojo Nakintu, operated largely online, standing on the beach and streets in Erambole, leveraging escort websites to attract customers as well as offline. .

Initial information about this racket came when a victim contacted the embassy. Through the assistance and support of the Embassy, ​​Goa Police was able to reach the location of the victims.
