After launching the scheme, Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant said that about 12.75 lakh square meters of land has remained unused due to sick industries.

He also said that this initiative will enable aspiring entrepreneurs to get plots for their units while job seekers will get employment.

“Many people want industrial plots under the Industrial Development Corporation. Once the current leaseholders want to exit, they can enter and create employment,” Sawant said.

“As per our survey, there are around 423 sick units. Earlier there was no exit support policy, but now they can avail the benefits with its launch,” Sawant said.

The chief minister also said the government encourages eco-friendly units as he appealed to investors to set up their units in the coastal state.

“With this initiative, new businesses will come and non-functional units will become functional again. We have streamlined the transfer process. I appeal to new entrepreneurs to set up their businesses in Goa,” Sawant said.

There are 24 industrial estates in Goa in which IDC provides plots on lease to interested parties.
