Panaji, Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant on Friday participated in the state-level function and performed 'asanas' on the occasion of International Yoga Day.

Sawant inaugurated the event here organized by the Union Ministry of AYUSH, Directorate of Sports and Youth Affairs, National AYUSH Mission and Directorate of Health Services to mark the 10th International Yoga Day with the theme 'Yoga for Self and Society'. Goa.

The CM did 'Asana' with the public at Dr. Shyama Prasad Mukherjee Stadium in Bambolim. The program started at 6.30 in the morning and lasted for about two hours.

“It is overwhelming to see how today the entire world is celebrating Yoga by gathering collectively at various places. A state-level function was organized to mark the day, which was led by the Narendra Modi-led government,” Sawant said.

Sawant said yoga was conducted across the state, including in schools, where students participated in large numbers. This day was also celebrated at the Panchayat level.

Heeding the call of Prime Minister Modi, the United Nations General Assembly in December 2014 announced to celebrate June 21 every year as International Yoga Day.
