Dumka (Jharkhand), A minor girl from West Bengal has been allegedly raped by five men in Jharkhand's Dumka district, where she had come to attend a wedding function, police said on Thursday.

The victim lodged a complaint at Shikaripada police station, which is about 310 km from Ranchi, the capital of Jharkhand.

The incident took place on the intervening night of June 11 and June 12. The process of registering FIR is being completed. Some people have been detained in connection with the case,” said Dumka Superintendent of Police (SP) Pitambar Singh Kherwar.

Kherwar said that the girl said in her complaint that she was raped by five people.

The SP said, "The girl is a minor but her actual age is not yet known, which is being confirmed."

The victim told the police that she had come to Jharkhand from West Bengal to attend a wedding ceremony in a village in Shikaripada police station area.

“On the night of June 11, she was roaming when she was gang-raped,” the SP said, quoting her complaint.

Shikaripada police station in-charge Hari Prasad Sah said that the victim has been sent to the hospital for medical examination.
