Haridwar: A 13-year-old girl, who went missing three days ago, was found dead on a highway here and her mother alleges that she was gang-raped by a local BJP worker and his associate before being murdered. Police gave this information on Wednesday.

He said the body was found on the highway in Bahadarabad area near Patanjali Research Center here on Tuesday morning.

The main accused Adityaraj Saini was a member of the local BJP OBC Morcha. According to a letter issued by state BJP general secretary Aditya Kothari, the party expelled him from its primary membership on Tuesday.

The girl's mother claimed that Adityaraj, who is the husband of a village head, was in a relationship with her daughter who suddenly went missing on Sunday evening.

When she called on his mobile phone, Adityaraj received it and said that the girl was with him. The victim's mother said in her complaint that after that the phone got switched off.

When the girl did not return home till the next morning, the woman went to the man's house, where the accused's accomplice Amit Saini also lives, but did not find her.

When she told him that she would take the matter to the police, Adityaraj pressured her not to do so and threatened to kill her if she did so.

However, the girl's mother contacted the police and lodged a missing complaint on Monday.

After the body was found on Tuesday, the woman alleged that her daughter was gang-raped and murdered by Adityaraj and Amit.

SP Pramendra Doval said that based on their complaint, the duo have been booked for gang rape and murder under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code and Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses (POCSO) Act.

Doval said that the matter is serious and five police teams have been formed to investigate it.

In the last assembly elections, Adityaraj had sought ticket from the party.
