Gadchiroli, A Naxalite camp was busted in Gadchiroli on the Maharashtra-Chhattisgarh border, although the militants managed to escape into the forest taking advantage of the difficult terrain, a senior police officer said on Friday.

The camp at Bheemankhozhi was busted following a tip-off about the presence of armed cadres of Tipagad and Kasansur 'Dalam' of the Unlawful Movement, following which C-60 commandos and a team of Gyarpatti-based CRPF 113 A Company on Thursday Started an operation. In the evening, information was given to SP Neelotpal under the leadership of Additional Superintendent of Police Kumar Chinta.

“Due to the difficult terrain, the militants managed to escape into the forest after spotting the C-60 commandos. We seized six pittus (sack bags used by Maoists), things like books, medicines and cooked food etc. The operation team reached the nearest armed post (AOP) on Friday morning,” the SP said.

The official said that this is the third anti-Naxal operation launched by the district police in the last three days.
