Apulia [Italy], Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, while interacting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, discussed the functioning of the Black Sea Transport Corridor to increase exports of sunflower oil to India.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky meets Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Italy on the sidelines of the G7 summit.

"The President talked about the functioning of the Black Sea Transport Corridor, which makes it possible to increase the export of sunflower oil and other categories of goods to India," the Ukrainian presidential website reads.

Notably, the main export to India is sunflower oil from Ukraine, followed by inorganic chemicals, iron and steel, plastics, chemicals, etc. India is Ukraine's largest export destination and the fifth largest overall export destination in the Asia Pacific region.Ukrainian President during G7 summit congratulated PM Modi on victory in 2024 general elections and wished peace and prosperity for the Indian people.

The two leaders also discussed the possibility of exchange of experience in the use of new technologies in agriculture.

"During the meeting the leaders discussed the development of bilateral relations and the possibility of exchanging experience in the use of new technologies in agriculture," the statement said.

Zelensky thanked PM Modi for the expected presence of the high-level delegation at the Global Peace Summit to be held on June 15-16 in Switzerland.

"The Head of State briefed about the preparations for the Global Peace Summit and thanked the Prime Minister of India for the expected presence of the high-level delegation at the event," the statement said."The leaders discussed the agenda of the summit."

India on Wednesday confirmed its participation in the upcoming global peace summit in Switzerland aimed at paving the way for peace in Ukraine, scheduled to be held on June 15-16.

Earlier in the day, PM Narendra Modi reiterated India's commitment to promote a peaceful resolution of the ongoing hostilities in Ukraine during a bilateral meeting with Zelensky on the sidelines of the G7 summit.

The leaders participated in productive discussions aimed at strengthening bilateral relations and addressing the situation in Ukraine, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) said in an official release.

During the meeting, PM Modi expressed his gratitude to President Zelensky for his warm wishes for Modi's third term.The two leaders exchanged views on enhancing bilateral relations and discussed the situation in Ukraine, including the upcoming summit in Switzerland.

The Ministry of External Affairs also said that PM Modi told Zelensky that India will continue to encourage a peaceful resolution of the war in Ukraine through dialogue and diplomacy.

Notably, India is participating in the Group of Seven (G7) summit as an outreach country.

The summit is taking place from 13-15 June at the luxurious Borgo Egnazia resort in the Apulia region of Italy. PM Modi is attending the summit at the invitation of Italy's PM Giorgia Meloni.
