Addressing a press conference, he alleged that the Congress government has failed to fulfill the promises made during the assembly elections.

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader said a bonus of Rs 500 per quintal for paddy was one of the promises and the Congress has failed to fulfill this promise also.

He criticized the government for stipulating that a bonus of Rs 500 would be given only for good varieties of paddy.

He wondered how the government could impose such a condition despite the fact that more than 80 per cent of farmers in the state grow coarse paddy. G Kishan Reddy reminded that Congress had promised to waive off farmers' loans up to Rs 2 lakh on Sonia Gandhi's birthday on December 9, but failed to implement it.

"Now the Chief Minister is saying that farm loans will be waived off by August 15. Who will believe this?" He asked.

He said that Congress had promised that all six guarantees would be implemented within 100 days of coming to power, but not a single guarantee was fulfilled in six months.

The Union Minister said that Congress had also promised annual financial assistance of Rs 15,000 per acre to farmers under Rythu Bharosa.

Agricultural laborers were also given a guarantee of assistance of Rs 12,000 every year.

G Kishan Reddy claimed that the Center is ready to purchase coarse variety rice and asked the state government what problem it faces in purchasing it. He alleged that the state government has failed to purchase paddy from farmers, although the Center has signed an agreement for the same. Purchase paddy in large quantities during the current Rabi season.

The BJP leader claimed that officials were delaying procurement at procurement centres, resulting in damage to the produce in the rains and loss to farmers.
