Mumbai: CMS Infosystems, India's leading cash logistics company, on Monday said the monthly average cash withdrawal from ATMs has increased by 5.51 per cent to Rs 1.43 crore in FY2024.

In an annual report, which comes amid major advances being made by digital payment modes like UPI that have led to a decline in the use of cash, the company said the monthly average automated teller machine (ATM) cash withdrawals in FY2013 Was Rs 1.35 crore.

It said average cash withdrawals increased by 10.37 per cent in metros, followed by SURUs (semi-urban and rural) at 3.94 per cent and semi-metros at 3.73 per cent.

The report by the company, which manages almost half of the country's ATMs, said cash withdrawals from ATMs in metro locations have increased by 37.49 per cent, while cash withdrawals from ATMs in SURU have seen a 12.50 per cent increase.

In the case of state-run lenders, 49 per cent of ATMs are located in metropolitan and urban areas, while for private sector lenders, the number is 64 per cent, while the remaining ATMs are in semi-urban and rural areas. For both groups.

With an annual average withdrawal of Rs 1.83 crore per ATM, Karnataka leads the country in terms of absolute withdrawals per ATM followed by Delhi at Rs 1.82 crore and West Bengal at Rs 1.62 crore, the report said.

The report titled 'Unfolding India's Consumption Story' said average spending in the media and entertainment sector grew by 29.30 per cent in FY24, while spending on fast-moving consumer goods declined by 21.94 per cent in FY23. Increased by 16.76 percent in FY24.
