Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh Chief Electoral Officer Navdeep Rinwa on Monday directed all district election officers to protect all counting workers from the scorching heat and provide them with freshly prepared food at the time of counting of Lok Sabha elections on June 4.

“At the place where votes are to be counted, adequate arrangements for tents should be made, which should have the facility of coolers, air conditioners and fans,” Rinwa said in a statement.

"Representatives of political parties, workers engaged in counting of votes and media persons should wear light cotton clothes and have a white cotton towel or other cloth to cover their heads," it said.

It says that there should be adequate arrangements for cold drinking water, jaggery and glucose at the counting venue. Besides, light and fresh food should also be provided at the counting venue.

Counting of votes for the recently concluded Lok Sabha elections will begin on Tuesday morning at 81 counting centers in 75 districts of the state and will decide the fate of 851 candidates.
