The American previously played her first Grand Slam final at Roland Garros in 2022. According to WTA statistics, she has reached the last-four stage of a Grand Slam for the fourth time overall and third consecutive.

Gauff and Swiatek are the only two active players under the age of 26 to reach more than two Grand Slam semi-finals.

The 20-year-old survived a tense final service game as Tunisia pressed for a break-back. Gauff finally crossed the line when Jabeur fired an overhead wide on the American's third match point.

According to WTA statistics, she becomes the sixth under-21 player this century to reach multiple semi-finals at the French Open, after Martina Hingis, Kim Clijsters, Justine Henin, Ana Ivanovic, Maria Sharapova and Iga Swiatek.
