Jaipur: Four people have been booked for allegedly assaulting a police constable who was illegally transporting river sand in Rajasthan's Sawai Madhopur. Officials gave this information on Friday.

According to police, the incident occurred on Wednesday when police constable Anil Kumar tried to stop the trucks at a checkpoint.

District Superintendent of Police Mamta Gupta said that Yadaram Meena, who was illegally carrying river sand in a truck, called his associates and attacked Kumar and ran away.

Gupta said, police deployed at another check-post some distance away at Bonli also tried to stop the four accused, but they could not do so.

Two separate cases were registered at Malarna Dungar and Bonli police stations. He said that the accused are currently absconding and efforts are being made to arrest them.
