Ranchi: Four newborn tiger cubs died after suffocating under the weight of the mother tigress at Birsa Munda Biological Park in Ranchi, a zoo official said on Tuesday.
Zoo veterinarian OP Sahu said that tigress Gauri gave birth to four cubs on May 10, but she overturned the newborn cubs and all four cubs died due to the mother's weight.
"The mother had no experience in caring for a child. Gauri did not understand that she turned her newborn cubs over. The cubs died on May 11 after suffocating under the mother's weight," he said.
