Mumbai, Navi Mumbai Police have arrested four members of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang for allegedly conspiring to attack actor Salman Khan following the firing outside his Bandra residence recently. A senior official gave this information on Saturday.

The Navi Mumbai Police had launched an investigation last month after receiving information about a conspiracy to target the actor at his farmhouse in Panvel area, the official said.

Police said the four were in touch with jailed gangster Lawrence Bishnoi and his younger brother Anmol Bishnoi and had conducted a recce of the farmhouse and the place where Salman Khan "worked" on the orders of the Bishnoi brothers.

Navi Mumbai has named 17 people, including Lawrence Bishnoi and Anmol Bishnoi, in its FIR.

The four arrested have been identified as Dhananjay Tapesingh alias Ajay Kashyap, Gaurav Bhatia alias Nahvi, Waspi Khan alias Wasim Chikna and Rizwan Khan alias Javed Khan.

They have been booked under Indian Penal Code (IPC) sections including 120 (conspiracy) and 506 (criminal intimidation), the officer said.

Lawrence Bishnoi is currently lodged in Sabarmati Central Jail in Ahmedabad, Gujarat, while Anmol Bishnoi is believed to be in the US or Canada.

On 14 April, two bike-riding men fired several rounds outside Galaxy Apartments, Khan's home in Bandra, Mumbai. Shooters Vicky Gupta and Sagar Pal were arrested from Gujarat.

Sonu Bishnoi and Anuj Thapan, who allegedly provided weapons to the shooters, were later arrested from Punjab. Thapan had allegedly hanged himself in the police lock-up here on May 1. Mumbai Police later made more arrests in the case
