Police said the car carrying the victims was heading south when it crashed into an oncoming truck at a turn around 4 a.m. Saturday in Dumaguete city, Xinhua news agency reported.

Preliminary investigation revealed that the car crossed the opposite lane, causing a head-on collision with the truck. The front part of the car was damaged by the impact of the accident, resulting in the 45-year-old male driver and three adult female passengers dying on the spot.

Police said the driver and passenger of the car were from the main island of Luzon.

The three injured victims, ages 15, 17 and 19, were taken to a local hospital.
