The Metropolitan Police said officers were called at 6.21pm. (1720 GMT) on Friday after reports of disorder.

An event was taking place to commemorate the death of Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi and was attended by supporters of the Iranian government.

The Met said anti-government protesters had gathered outside the venue, with clashes breaking out between the groups.

Officers and other Met resources attended along with paramedics from the Londo Ambulance Service.

A spokesperson for the Metropolitan Police confirmed that four people were injured and were treated by paramedics. One person was also arrested on suspicion of violent disorder.

The spokesman said: "His injuries are not believed to be life-threatening or life-changing."

"A dispersal order was put in place, requiring those involved to leave the area, this will remain in place until 03:00."

“Further inquiries will now be carried out to establish what further crimes took place and to identify those involved.”

“This will include investigation of footage shared on social media.”
